November – Subaraw Festival

The Subaraw Biodiversity Festival is an annual celebration held every November in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, usually centered around November 11, which marks the anniversary of the Puerto Princesa Underground River’s declaration as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Subaraw comes from the local Cuyonon word meaning “zoo” or “variety of life,” perfectly representing the city’s rich biodiversity. The festival highlights environmental awareness, conservation efforts, and appreciation for nature’s diversity—from land to sea.

Activities include:

  • Street dancing and float parades inspired by flora and fauna
  • Photo and art exhibits promoting environmental protection
  • Eco-tours, tree planting, and river clean-ups
  • Concerts, food fairs, and cultural shows celebrating local heritage
