City Tour
Baker’s Hill
As the name implies, it is home to one of PPS’s muste-taste: Baker’s Hill Hopia/Jopia. Well apart from their hopia, every food they sell is really addictive! Their pastillas really brought out my sweet-tooth! If you come here, make sure to allocate a generous budget for food because the place just makes you want to eat, and eat, and eat! Apart from their food and restaurant, their landscaped gardens and playground makes it perfect for a family hang out. They too have the astounding Pheasant peacock!
Butterfly Garden
A place that reflects the mesmerizing beauty of a province that is known as the “Last Frontier of the Philippines”. It showcases a sheer variety of Palawan Butterflies. These free flying butterflies are surrounded with live exhibits of scorpions, green-crested lizards, phasmid and mantises which are their natural predators. It is a window to the natural ecology of these colorful insects.
Crocodile Farm & Nature Park
Enjoy a wildlife Eco tour as you visit this facility that works to conserve the two endangered species of crocodiles found in the Philippines, the saltwater crocodile and the endemic Philippine freshwater crocodile. See for real these cold blooded animals and get to know the facts about these species of reptiles, the only known survivors of the Dinosaur Age. It would be interesting as well to learn the economic importance of crocodilians.
Forest Canopy Eco Parks
The Irawan Eco Park located south of Puerto Princesa is a 3,000 hectares Flora and Fauna Protected Area which forms part of the Irawan Watershed. The Irawan Forest is accessible even to non hiking persons. Even the less adventurous who don’t want to take the Forest Canopy Zip line, the eco and river tour itself is well worth a trip up to the Eco Park just to explore and commune with nature and walk along its crystal clear river.
Mitra Ranch
Rancho Sta. Monica, popularly known as Mitra’s Ranch, used to be a private property. They’ve long been opened to the public from 6AM-6PM. It is among the must-see of PPS because this gives you an astonishing view of Puerto Princesa City There are lots of activities in the area like trampoline, horse back riding, and zip lining!
Puerto Princesa Baywalk
Puerto Princesa Baywalk is the city’s own version of Manila’s Manila de Bay, Cebu’s Plaza Independencia and Davao’s Magsaysay and People’s Park. It is a long stretch of concrete structure where public can hang out to. It also holds the emblem of Palawan’s Pheasant peacock. Here you can pig out on the food stalls surrounding the area or rent a bicycle and just play along.
Word War II Museum
Special Battalion World War II Memorial Museum” was inaugurated by the family of local hero Dr. Higinio Mendoza Sr. Some of the museum pieces that are interesting to see are a historic typewriter and stenography machine, which Mendoza claimed was used by Gen. Douglas McArthur in Manila; old vehicles used during WWII; rusting guns and ammunition; uniforms of American soldiers who fought with the guerillas; miniature war planes and ships; and old paper denominations used during the war.
